Sara Norman is the Marketing and Communications Manager for the University of Michigan’s Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences (NERS), where she leads strategic communications that amplify the department’s research excellence, student accomplishments, faculty recognitions, and global collaborations.

She shapes the department’s public voice through writing, design, media relations, and digital strategy—ensuring that NERS’s impact reaches audiences across academia, industry, and the broader public. She also plays a key role in developing outreach strategies for departmental events, symposia, and academic programs that support nuclear innovation, education, and workforce development.

Sara also supports the Fastest Path to Zero Initiative, a multidisciplinary effort focused on accelerating community-centered clean energy transitions. In this role, she translates complex research into accessible, compelling stories and designs user-friendly interfaces for decision-support tools.

With a background in storytelling, graphic design, and science communication, Sara works across platforms to bridge technical insight with human-centered narratives—elevating nuclear’s role in a sustainable energy future.
