Xiaodong Sun, professor of nuclear engineering and radiological sciences, has been honored with the American Nuclear Society (ANS) 2024 Thermal Hydraulics Division (THD) Technical Achievement Award (TAA). The award was presented last week at the ANS Winter Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
This award, the highest recognition given by the Thermal Hydraulics Division, celebrates Sun’s exceptional technical contributions to advancing the understanding of thermal hydraulics. Through his experimental research, Sun has provided novel insights and enhanced modeling techniques critical to supporting nuclear power utilization.
The ANS THD Technical Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions to the state of the art in thermal hydraulics. Recipients are chosen based on nominations and supporting letters from peers in the technical community. The award includes a plaque with an inscription highlighting the recipient’s achievements and a monetary grant.
“Xiaodong continues to be a national leader in thermal hydraulics and a local leader within NERS,” said NERS Chair Todd Allen. “We are happy to see this well-deserved recognition.”
